Cargo must be stored in a specially equipped dangerous goods warehouse. Radioactive material must be stored separately in a specialized isotope-products storage facility.

Authorised personnel must ensure that:

  1. Current storage and handling procedures for dangerous goods are developed and updated in accordance with the requirements of local authorities and U6 standards;
  2. The dangerous goods storage area is kept clean; storage of waste and materials prone to ignition is strictly prohibited;
  3. The warehouse is equipped with firefighting equipment in accordance with local authority requirements;
  4. A dedicated zone (segregated from other cargo) is established for temporary storage of damaged consignments and/or consignments with leaks;
  5. Incompatible dangerous goods are stored separately within the warehouse;
  6. Storage procedures ensure easy and safe handling in the event of a fire or other incident;
  7. Provisions for Class 4.1 and 5.2 substances (and Special Provision A20 of the IATA DGR) during storage (including loading and unloading) are strictly observed for bulk-loaded consignments marked with the "Keep in a cool place" label;
  8. They are located away from direct sunlight and heat sources, in a well-ventilated area.

Important. Storage of dangerous goods outside the designated warehouse must be carried out properly, ensuring an appropriate level of safety; in any case they must be segregated from other cargo. Storage locations must be visibly marked.
