Regulations

Transportation of live organs and blood on flights U6 is carried out in accordance with:

  1. The current legislation of the Russian Federation, the Legislation of the countries of import, export, transit and transfer;
  2. U6 standards and procedures.

Classification

A package may contain:

  1. Living human organs, their parts, tissues and / or other medical materials for transplantation, such as kidneys, heart valves, the lens of the eye (hereinafter human organs);
  2. Medical materials for research and testing;
  3. Blood and derivatives / plasma.

It is important . Blood is allowed for transportation only in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Note Some medical research and testing materials can be classified as dangerous goods and must be transported according to the requirements for the transport of dangerous goods.

Responsibility of the shipper and the Carrier

The shipper is responsible for the contents, packaging, and shipping documents.

The consignee of such a cargo - human organs can only be specialized medical institutions and hospitals.

The carrier or his authorized representative guarantees the integrity of the package in accordance with these procedures from the moment the goods are accepted for transportation until they are delivered to the recipient at the destination. Timely delivered cargo can save the patient’s life. Transportation and handling of packages containing medical materials for research and testing do not require priority. Priority during transportation is declared by the consignor and is recorded in the consignment note.

Note The carrier transporting human organs is not responsible for the integrity of the container, which may be damaged for reasons beyond the control of the carrier. For example: Change in pressure, ambient temperature and other factors that occur during the flight.

Transport documents

  1. In cargo shipments containing human organs it is not allowed to include dissimilar objects and goods;
  2. In the box Name and amount of cargo - HUMAN KIDNEY and LHO IMP code should be indicated;
  3. In the Information on cargo handling box - a 24-hour contact telephone number of the consignee and all additional instructions.

Packaging and Handling Requirements

When transporting human organs:

  1. Pack in a suitable inner packaging - in a plastic bag (usually multi-layer) containing preservative solution and immunological material (packed separately);
  2. Pack in a suitable outer packaging - a bag lined with ice and placed in a special container for transportation:
    • Strong enough, safe and insulating packaging (usually polystyrene); human organs cannot be frozen, but transport requires a low temperature;
    • Human tissues must be packaged according to individual requirements in sterile waterproof packaging;
  3. The transport container must be properly labeled (this rule also applies to medical materials):
    • The contents of the container should be indicated, such as HUMAN KIDNEY;
    • It is marked with the sign “Medical Supply” on two opposite sides of the container; container labeling is the responsibility of the shipper or authorized agent (if applicable); duplicate labels are permitted;
    • Additional emergency response information is also required;
  4. It is recommended that cargo containing human organs be handled and transported as soon as possible; Human organs for transplantation must be delivered to the recipient within a maximum of 24 hours:
    • The cargo should be accepted for transportation immediately before the flight; Such cargo has priority during processing and transportation, the maximum level of awareness at all stages;
    • This cargo requires delicate handling during processing, (there is a risk of irreparable damage to the contents) and the maximum prevention of possible damage due to falling, compressing or shaking;
    • Maintenance of sterility of contents - it is forbidden to open the container under any circumstances during the whole transportation;
    • Security Control Limitations;
    • It is forbidden to place in a storage warehouse and leave unprocessed even for a short period; after reception procedures, the cargo should be immediately placed on the aircraft;
    • Requires special loading and transportation procedures in a separate cargo compartment;
  5. Cargo should be transported only on U6 flights (interline transportation at any section is prohibited).
